What is body composition?
Body composition is the proportion of fat and non-fat mass in your body.
A healthy body composition is one that includes a lower percentage of body fat and a higher percentage of non-fat mass, which includes muscle, bones, and organs. Knowing your body composition can help you assess your health and fitness level.
It is a method of breaking down the body into 4 different core components: fat, protein, mineral and body water. It provides more accurate information and also to have a better understanding in your overall health.
What can BCA screening do for you?
It gives more in-depth details about your own body; BCA has 5 different components to determine your InBody Score:
Body Composition Analysis
The sum of your Total Body Water, Protein, Minerals and Body Fat Mass forms your body weight. It is imperative to maintain a balanced body composition to stay healthy.
Segmental Lean Analysis
It evaluates the distribution of your muscles, whether they are adequately distributed in all parts of the body. It does it by comparing your muscle mass to your current weight.
Segmental Fat Analysis
It evaluates the distribution of your fat, whether they are adequately distributed within the body. Usually, the analysis compares the examinee’s fat mass to the ideal fat mass.
Muscle Fat Analysis
It uses bar graphs to compare between Weight, Skeletal Muscle Mass and Body Fat Mass. Using the examinee’s height as a base, the lengths of the bar graphs can be used to show the relationship between the current weight to the average of each specific individual segment.
It displays both the Body Mass Index (BMI) and the Percent Body Fat (PBF). PBF, which is often the more accurate determination of your health, shows the percentage of your body fats in comparison to your body mass, whereas BMI although archaic, is more commonly used in scientific research.

Evaluating the Inbody Result:
Etern Medical Clinic uses Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) to evaluate the result. BIA works by sending an electrical current into your body to find out the levels of resistance in the different components in your body such as body water, fat, muscle and bone. By doing that it will be able to make an estimation of your body composition.
Upon completion of the test, your results will then be analysed by our doctor. You will receive a test report to keep for future reference.
