RSV can be particularly severe for: Young children: Especially infants and those under 1 year old. Older adults: Especially those 65 and above. Individuals with weakened immune systems: This includes people with chronic health conditions or undergoing specific medical treatments. Prevalence and Potential Severity: According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), almost all children contract RSV by age 2. However, only a small percentage experience severe symptoms. Common Symptoms in Children: Cold-like symptoms: Stuffy or runny nose, sore throat, mild headache, cough, fever. Feeding issues: Not eating or drinking well. General discomfort: Feeling unwell. RSV Complications: While less common, RSV can lead to: Bronchiolitis: Inflammation of the small airways in the lungs.
